Did you set your quarterly goals? Here are mine.

Published about 1 year ago • 2 min read

Hello Reader,

Two weeks of quarter one are already over.

Did you set your Q1 goals yet?

Please use my free Quarterly Planning Workbook if you have not picked your Q1 goals. This workbook will guide you to select your specific goals and achieve them through daily actions.

I would love to hear what Q1 holds for you.

Meanwhile, I have picked my quarterly goals and currently working on my 2022 annual review with Tiago Forte.

Tiago runs a four weeks cohort, and I have joined him to become more organized and build my second brain.

He explained top-down vs. bottom-up and convergent vs. divergent concepts during one of the live sessions. I realized before I adopted Agile, I was a top-down and convergent person; after my Agile transformation, my mindset changed to bottom-up and divergent.

It answered some internal conflicts about my approach to planning and note-taking.

What are my Q1 goals?

My quarter-one writing goals are

  1. Tweak my digital products for the web developers by adding specific examples relevant to them.
  2. Help web developers build a web application so they can confidently discuss this project in their next job/promotion interview.
  3. Launch a free 3-month self-paced foundation course for fresh web developers to learn web development, build projects and get themself ready for job interviews.
  4. Create a concept & outline for a 5-week crash course for web developers to work in a 5-10 person team to learn, build, and gain real-life web development experience so they can talk without imposters in their job interviews.

Why these goals?

Everyone struggles with imposter syndrome.

Personally, I have for years.

When I started my web development career, I wished to work on a significant project.

But my initial projects were all small in-house web applications.

What changed for me was a job interview in which I passionately spoke about my small project.

And as soon as that clicked, I started to understand that overcoming that imposter feeling wasn’t that hard—I was just doing the wrong thing.

Here’s what I should have done instead:

I should have trusted myself & my projects.

To learn, build & show off an excellent web application, you do not need permission from anyone.

As a web developer, you have the power to make any application excellent.

For example, you can write better code and documentation.

I don’t want you to go through the same struggle I did.

So I am on a mission to create five project ideas for you.

I will also provide a professional work environment to build these projects. You can also make them independently if you prefer working alone.

The first project in this series is a Testimonial website.

Testimonial Free is an open-source project hosted on GitHub github.com/careerJumpstart/TestimonialFree.

I am building a team of 10 web developers to work on this TestimonialFree website. This team will also have a p.
